John Rivington
Date: ca. 1772 - 1808
Remarks: John Rivington was the son of James Rivington (ca. 1724-1802) and Elizabeth (Van Horne) Rivington, recieved a commission in the British army from Sir Guy Carleton, the last commander of Royal forces to occupy New York. This was probably in recognition for his father's earlier loyalty to the crown. He was a lieutenent of the 83rd Regiment, and rose to the rank of major before his early death in England in 1808.
