Barbara Ernst Prey

Remarks: The well-known artist, who received her B.A. from Williams College and her M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, grew up in New York City. Prey has exhibited widely and is best known for her watercolors of Maine. She was recently appointed by President Bush and confirmed by the Senate to serve on the National Council on the Arts, the advisory board of the National Endowment for the Arts. Her paintings are in numerous American private collections and also public collections, including those of The Brooklyn Museum and The Smithsonian American Art Museum. The artist had a retrospective last year (2008) in Paris at the Mona Bismarck Foundation, curated by Sarah Cash of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Barbara Ernst Prey: An American View.
