Bertha Palmer

Remarks: Bertha Honore was the daughter of Henry Hamilton Honore, of French aristocratic descent, and Eliza Dorsey (Carr) Honore. She attended school in Georgetown, Maryland and had her debut in Chicago. Miss Honore married Potter Palmer (d.1902), a prominent merchant . The couple had two children Honore Potter Palmer (b.1874) and Potter Palmer, Jr. (b. 1875). Mrs. Palmer was a leader of American society, and gained international recognition as president of the board of, Lady Managers of the World's Columbian Exposition held in Chicago (Chicago World's Fair) in 1893. She was a liberal patron of music, and the fine arts in the Mid-West.
