Richard Platt
Date: 1754 - 1830
Remarks: Richard Platt was commissioned a second lieutenant of the First New York Regiment on June 28, 1775, at the beginning of the Revolutionary War, by the following year he had risen to the rank of major. Throughout most of the war he served as aide-de-camp to General AlexanderMcDougall. He remained in the army until his retirement in 1820. In 1788 Platt was chairman of the committee of arrangements for the federal procession in New York celebrating the adoption of theUnited States Constitution. He was one of the original members of the Society of Cincinnati.
