Alexander O'Reilly
Date: 1722 - 1794
Remarks: Alexander O'Reilly was taken to Spain at an early age by his parents. He later joined the Spanish army, gained knowledge of modern warfare, and worked to reform the army. After proving himself in battle, in Portugal, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. He was made Lieutenant general in 1767. Lieutenant General O'Reilly was sent to Louisana to take over Antonio de Ulloa's post as military commander of Louisana. The Spanish monarchy and military rewarded him by bestowing on him the title of count, allowing him to head a military school for officers, making him Governor of Madrid and Cadiz, and appointing him commander of the Spanish army. He died before realizing his dream.
