Sarah Morton

Remarks: Sarah Wentworth Apthorp was the daughter of James and Sarah (Wentworth) Apthorp of Boston. She married Perez Morton, a Boston lawyer in 1781. The couple had five children. Mrs. Morton was a poet and published her work under the pseudonym Philenia. Her poetry won her great fame at home and abroad. She was called the American Sappho.
