William McKinley
Date: 1843 - 1901
Remarks: Before serving as the 25th President, William McKinley spent 14 years in the House of Representatives and two terms as the Governor of Ohio. The Civil War veteran¿s first term as President was defined by foreign affairs, mainly the Spanish-American War, at the end of which America annexed the Philippines, Puerto Rico and Guam. In 1900, McKinley won reelection as the president; however in September of the next year he was shot and killed by an anarchist in Buffalo, New York. ¿Source: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/wm25.html
