John A. MacDougall
Date: 1810/11 - 1894
Remarks: Miniaturist and portrait painter. A native of Livingston, N.J. and spent most of his career in Newark, N.J.. He visited New Orleans in 1839 and he also practiced his art in Charleston and Saratoga Springs. During the 1840's and 1850's he also had a studio in NYC and exhibited at the National Academy, the American Art-Union, the American Institute, and the Artists' Fund Society of Philadelphia.
