John Langdon
Date: 1741 - 1819
Remarks: John Langdon was born in New Hampshire, while it was still a under British colony. As a young man he served at sea for several years, until he was able to purchase his own ship. Mr. Langdon denounced English colonial policies before the American Revolution, and served as a member of the Continental Congress. During the Revolution he was a naval agent, and helped organize finance for the war. After the Revolution, he served as govenor of New Hampshire for three terms(1788, 1805-1809, and 1810-1811). Mr. Langdon was also a United States senator (1789-1801) and a member of the New Hampshire legislature (1801-1805).
