Remarks: He was recognized as one of the leaders of the American Literary world after publishing "The Vision of Sir Launfal", "A Fable for Critics," and the first series of "The Bigelow Papers" He was the first editor of the "Atlantic Monthly" (1857-1862) and was editor of the "North American Review" (1863-1872) In 1877, he was appointed American Minister to Spain and from 1880-1885 he was the Minister to England
