Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Date: 1807 - 1882
Remarks: One of the most beloved American poets of the mid-19th century and was the 1st American poet to achieve wide recognition. He was a close friend of Hawthorne, Emerson, Lowell, and many other in this literary circle. Some of his most famous works are "Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie" (1847), "The Song of Hiawatha" (1855) and "The Courtship of Miles Standish" (1858)
