Louis Philippe, King of France
Date: 1773 - 1850
Remarks: Louis Philippe began his career in the Army of the Revolution. In 1793, however, Louis was forced to flee France and he remained in exile for the next twenty years. Upon the restoration of the Bourbon family to the French throne, Louis Philippe finally returned to France and in 1830, he was made ¿King of the French¿. During his reign, known as the July monarchy because of its origins in the July Revolution, Louis Philippe maintained a conservative rule, promoted friendly relations with England and advocated colonization. In 1848, the people of France again revolted, and during the February Revolution, Louis Philippe, who had become increasingly unpopular, willingly abdicated the throne and fled to England where he died two years later. ¿Source:
