William Irvine
Date: 1741 - 1804
Remarks: William Irvine was born in Ireland, where he received medical training and served in the Seven Year's War. Upon arriving, he settled in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where he opened a medical practice in 1764. He openly opposed British colonial policy and supported the movement for independence. Irvine, organized a regiment to help fight the Amerian Revolution. Colonel Irvine, led his troop into Cananda where he was captured and held until 1778. After being exchanged he was returned to active duty, and given command of the northwestern frontiers. He remained active in the affairs of state after the war, until his death.
