Henry Inman
Date: 1801 - 1846
Remarks: He apprenticed under John Wesley Jarvis. Established a studio in New York on Vesey Street. Around 1823 he began exhibiting his work publicly at the American Academy's annual show. His style is characterized by small crosshatchings and stippling. After his return to New York from Philadelphia in 1834, Inman executed very few miniatures. Even before going to Philadelphia in 1831 he had turned all miniature work over to his former partner, Thomas S. Cummings.
