Isaac Tatem Hopper
Date: 1771 - 1852
Remarks: Devout Quaker and ardent Abolitionist who was very involved in the underground railroad helping runaway slaves; In 1841 he helped Lydia Maria Child in editing and managing the "National Anti-Slavery Standard"; He was involved in the Prison Association of NY and was very interested in prison reform. He was one of the earliest workers for the reform of the penal system in American
