Nathan Hale
Date: 1755 - 1776
Remarks: Nathan Hale is known as one of the heroes of the American Revolution. When the war began, Hale was a teacher in Connecticut, however he left his post to serve in the militia. When someone was needed to gather information about the British on Long Island, Hale volunteered for the dangerous assignment, disguising himself as a school teacher merely traveling. The British however, captured Hale and discovered his purpose. He was hung in 1776 without a trial. His last words, now famous, were: ¿I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country¿. -Source: http://www.bartleby.com/65/ha/Hale-Nat.html
