William Henry Harrison
Date: 1773 - 1841
Remarks: Hero of the Battle of Tippecanoe during the Indian Wars; received awards for his fighting in the War of 1812; governor Indiana Territory 1801-1812; last Whig President; he died one month after his inauguration, the first president to die in office and had the shortest presidency in history. His inaugural speech was the longest in history and edited by Daniel Webster. Although he ran as the 'log cabin and cider' candidate, he was really from an Aristocratic, Virginia, planter family. 'Tippecanoe and Tyler too' was his slogan when running for president in 1840.
