Louis Grube
Date: German-American, 1812 - 1902
Remarks: Grube studied at the Academy of Arts in Mannheim and also recieved instruction from his father. He emigrated with his brother to America around 1837. He pursued a career teaching art and music in Poughkeepsie, NY. Beginning in 1846, he regularly exhibited his art at the National Academy of Design. He moved to Brooklyn in 1856 where he was a music teacher and in 1860 he was involved in the paino-making industry until 1865. From 1867 to his death, he supported himself as a music and art teacher, musician, and painter.
