Rudolph W. Giuliani
Date: 1944
Remarks: Rudy Giuliani, educated at Manhattan College and NYU Law School, was elected Mayor of New York City in 1993 and again in 1997. In his two terms in office he reformed local law enforcement - bringing crime down over 40%; he cleaned up certain areas of the city such as Times Square; and he also improved the city's schools - lowering the student-teacher ratio and raising the budget. He became a well-known figure around the world for his response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Giuliani intended to run for New York Senator upon leaving office, however being diagnosed with prostate cancer led him to withdraw. -Source: and
