Gilbert and Sullivan
Remarks: In the 1870's and 1880's, Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (a playwright, 1836¿1911) and Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan (a compser, 1842¿1900) worked together to create a number of comic operas. In 1881, the Savoy Theatre was built for the express purpose of producing Gilbert and Sullivan shows. However in 1896, a quarrel caused the creative pair to go their separate ways and pursue solo ventures. Their best-known works include H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, Patience and Princess Ida. -Source: and
