Geraldine Ferraro

Remarks: Graduated high school at 16, she later put herself through Fordham Law School; after taking a break to raise her children, Ferraro became a Queen's Country District Attorney in the Special Victims Bureau, fighting rape and crimes against children and senior citizens. She served three terms in the House of Representatives, sitting on the Committees of Public Works, the Post Office, Civil Service, and the Budget. For the Equal Rights' Amendment and the Equity Act; Chief of the Democratic Platform Committee and the first woman Vice Presidential Candidate in 1984 (ran with Walter Mondale); she wrote two memoirs.
