Alexander Everett
Date: 1790 - 1847
Remarks: He was a diplomat and the older brother of Edward Everett. After graduating from Harvard in 1806 with highest honors, he studied law in the office of John Quincy Adams. Upon the ppointment of Adams as Minister to Russia, Everett went to St. Petersburg as his secretary (1809-1811). His own diplomatic post as charge d'affaires was at The Hague, and from 1825 to 1829 he was Minister to Spain, under Adams presidency. Thereafter he was owner and editor of "The North American Review" From 1830-1835 he was a member of the MA legislature. In 1845 he was appointed U.S. Commissioner to China.
