Thomas Addis Emmet

Remarks: Borther of Robert Emmett. He was a Lockean liberal who sought liberal self government, including universal manhood suffrage and separation of Church and State for Ireland. He was forced to leave Ireland because of his beliefs, he came to NY. He practiced law in NYC and was retained by Robert Fulton during the great steamboat controversy that interfered with state and national policy making for the 1st quarter of the 19th century
