Eiraku Hozen
Date: Japanese, 1795–1854
Remarks: Potter in late Edo period. Kyoto. 11th generation of Eiraku Zengoro family. Adopted by Ryozen (10th Eiraku). Learned pottery technique from Iwakurayama and Hozan families in Awataguchi, Kyoto. Hozen and Ryozen involved with the Kairakuen kiln, a private kiln in Kishu (modern day Wakayama) owned by Tokugawa Harutomi. Hozen made variety of wares including underglaze cobalt-blue wares and Kochin style wares. - British Museum
