Anson Dickinson

Remarks: Anson Dickinson began miniature painting about 1803 in Litchfield, Connecticut. By 1804, he established his headquarters in New York City. Over a 20 year period he travelled throughout New York, Connecticut, South Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Washington D.C, and Canada. He was considered one of the most successful minaturist in the world. He exhibited at the American Academy, the National Academy, The Pennylvania Academy, and the Boston Athenenm. After 1825, he worked mainly in New York, Washington D.C., and Connecticut.
