Lewis Costigan
Date: ca.1743 - 1822
Remarks: Costigan served as a first lieutenantin the First New Jersey Regimentin the Continental Army. He was taken prisoner in teh vicinity of New Brunswick in the winter if 1776-77 while on a spy mission. Upon his release in Decemeber 1778 he took a Loyalist stand and remained in New York but sent secret intelligence to General Washington under the code name "Z".
