Emma Calve

Remarks: Emma de Roguer was born in France and, changed her name to Emma Calve. She had a singing career that spanned from ca. 1882 to 1927. Miss Calve studied voice in Paris and Milan. In 1884, she sang for soprano at the Opera Comique in Paris. Her American debut at the Metropolitan Opera (1893) in, "Cavalleria Rusticana" as Sntuzza, was seen as one of her greatest triumphs. She sang on every important opera and concert stage throughout the world. In 1922, her autobiography "My Life" was published.
