Remarks: The first Brooks Brothers Store opened in New York City on April 7, 1818. Opened by Henry Sands Brooks, the store was first known as H. & D.H. Brooks & Co. In 1850, the now well known Golden Fleece symbol was adopted as the company's trademark. In 1939, the first store outside of New York was opened in Los Angeles; forty years later the first international branch was opened in Japan. In over 175 years of service, the store has drawn many famous customers, including Abraham Lincoln, Charles Lindbergh, Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Richard Nixon, among others. -Source:
