Thomas Bacot
Date: 1765 - 1834
Remarks: He was the son of Peter Bacot, who was master of a plantation at Goose Creek, South Carolina, Thomas Wright Bacot became a succesful merchant in Charleston. In 1793, he was appointed cashier of the Bank of South Carolina and a year later was named postmaster for his native city, a posistion he held for forty years. He was a personal friend of the artist Charles Fraser and also of the Charleston lawyer-banker-sculptor John Cogdell.
