Lord Byron
Date: January 22, 1788 - April 19, 1824
Remarks: Born George Gordon Noel Byron, Lord Byron, along with John Keats and Percy Shelley, was a celebrated English Romantic poet during the early 1800's. His works include Don Juan and Childe Harold¿s Pilgrimage, which told of his many wide travels. In 1823, he traveled to Greece to help fight in the war for independence. It was here that Bryon caught the fever that claimed his life in April 1824. Byron's remains were sent to England, and after being refused for burial in Westminister Abbey, laid to rest with those of his ancestors at Newstead. However in 1969, a monument was finally placed in his memory in Westminister Abbey. -Source: http://englishhistory.net/byron/life.html
