Ms. Foner's painting documents what is clearly the studio of a New York City artist. Stylistically, the work relates to the generation of artists who found their path between Social Realism and abstract expressionism, albeit by one who did not receive much acclaim in her active professional life, but who nonetheless has produced a large and very creditable ouevre.
