This 18-71 series truck door and other parts of the Resuce Company 2 "rig" were salvaged at the Fresh Kills Landfill, in consulation with the Fire Department of New York and the men of Rescue 2. Located since 1985 at 1472 Bergen St. in Beford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, this elite company arrived at the unfolding World Trade Center tragedy on the morning of September 11 little more than fifteen minutes after hearing the alarm. All seven firefighters aboard the truck that day died.
