Description: Dark blue wool militia infantry Captain's double-breasted dress coat; 2 3/4" closed stand-up collar (2 hooks and eyes) with light blue grosgrain ribbon around the collar band bordered with gilt lacing, lined with white satin, with 3 metal loops inside for collar form; metal screw attachments on the shoulders near the collar and fabric loops at the outer shoulders for epaulettes; 9 New York State militia buttons down both sides of the bodice, showing allegorical female figures on either side of an eagle crested shield; closed false cuffs (no buttons) trimmed with gilt band with Captain's gilt laced sleeve knots above 12th infantry regiment insignia above crossed rifles; 4 panels at the back of bodice with 2 buttons near the center at the waistline, a button on each side of split skirt; coat lined with black satin, horizontal slit pocket inside right breast, vertical slit pocket inside left breast, pockets lined with white silk, sleeves lined with white satin with gray and green pin stripes.
