Description: Dark blue twill-weave wool felt Zouave uniform shirt; 1 1/4" closed stand-up collar; 4 buttons half way down the front, red wool placket, closed half way down the front, pocket at left breast; open sleeves with false cuffs, 1 button at each wrist; all buttons wooden.

This shirt is part of a Zouave uniform worn by David P. Davis during the Civil War. He served with the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry, commonly called "Duryee's Zouaves." Davis served in the Peninsula Campaign under McClellan, the second Battle of Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.
