This toy reflects the racism directed at Chinese Americans during the late 19th century, particularly during the period leading up to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which halted Chinese immigration. The slogan "The Chinese Must Go" was coined by the Workingman's Party labor organization, which opposed Chinese immigrant labor.
