Description: Elongated octagonal brass snuffbox with silhouetted and engraved scenes depicting the story of the prodigal son surrounding central panel with inscription on top and bottom; engraved scrollwork and diapering on sides; engraving on inside of lid with inscription enclosed in a heart surmounted by a crown at center and a winged nude female figure and a tree on either side; cylinder of sheet metal applied to inside of lid to serve as holder for snuff stick.
