Emma Eames

Emma Eames was born in China to American parents. She spent time travelling the world, and taking voice lessons. She studied voice in Paris and Boston among other places. When she made her debut with the Paris Opera (1889), recognition of her talent was immediate. She returned to America and joined the Metropolitan Opera Company (1891-1909). In 1891, Miss Eames married Julian Russell Story (1857-1919). The couple divorced after several years of marriage. Mrs. Story then married Emilio de Vorza, a baritone with the same company. Mrs. de Vorza later separated from her husband, and she retired in 1912.
