Edith Russell Playfair CrooksAmerican, ca. 1855 - 1932

Edith Russell (ca. 1855 - 1932) was the daughter of Samuel Hammond Russell, of Boston. Miss Russell married Sir Lyon Playfair (1819-1898), she was his third wife. Sir Playfair, was an inspector general of government museums and schools. He also held the posts of postmaster general, and lord-in -waiting to the Queen in 1892. The couple lived in England and had no children. After the death of her husband, Lady Playfair was married to Robert Fleming Crooks.
