Fernand PailletFrench, 1850 - 1918
Best know as a watercolor portrait painter and considered a specialist in miniaturist painting. He was a student of Carrier-Belleuse. He debuted at the Salon of 1873. From 1879-1888 he painted designs for Sevres porcelain. He spent his entire career in France and his numerous miniatures of NY ladies were probably painted when they were in Paris. He was a member of the Societaire des Artistes Francais. Many of his work are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
