Mary Jenckes GoddardAmerican, 1844 – 1921
Mary Edith Jenks was the daughter of Thomas Allen Jenks of Providence, Rhode Island. In 1867 she became the wife of Colonel William W. Goddard, who distinguished himself in the Civil War and in 1888 was appointed chancellor of Brown University. The Goddard home was in Providence. The couple had one daughter, Edith Hope Goddard who married C. Oliver Iselin.
