DescriptionBronze badge of an American eagle with shield of stars and stripes, encircled in wreath of leaves with iron pin on back; silk ribbon of an American flag connects eagle to vignette featuring a rifle, saber, anchor, and chain connected to a cross-shaped medallion; "UNITED" inscribed across the anchor; "CUBA", PORTORICO", "U.S.A."; "PHILIPPINE ISLANDS" inscribed on the obverse of each of the four arms of the cross; seal in the center of the medal features two standing soldiers and one seated figure, "SPANISH WAR VETERANS1898-1902" encircles the seal; "N", "S", "E", "W", inscribed on each of the four arms of the cross on the reverse, central seal features "UNTED" on a background of stars and stripes, encirlced by various symbols.
MarkingsOn reverse of sword, anchor, and saber vignette: "23200" Stamped on reverse of eagle: "MAKERS." surrounded by "JOS. MAYER & BROS. SEATTLE. WASH."
