This is a bronze cast of the Dormouse that appears in Jose de Creeft's monumental bronze, Alice in Wonderland. The artist's wife says that it was intended as a wry and humorous version of the ubiquitous New York City rat. The sculpture has been an icon of Central Park since its installation in 1959.
