This medal commemorates the centennial anniversary of the evacuation of New York, the last official post held by the British, in 1783. The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783, marking the end of the American Revolution. "Evacuation Day" was a celebrated holiday in America through the first World War.

Reverse bears three roundels at center bearing symbols of the City of New York with inscription above and below, all surrounded by stars: "TO COMMEMORATE/CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY/OF THE EVACUATION OF NEW YORK/BY THE BRITISH/AND THE ERECTION/BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE/OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK OF THE/WASHINGTON STATUE/IN/WALL STREET."
