DescriptionBronze struck medal with obverse showing bust of Liberty, facing left, in Phrygian cap, crowned with laurel wreath and draped in American flag; Liberty Bell at left; legend: "JULY 4 1776." Reverse bears inscription at center surrounded by laurel and oak wreath: "TO COMMEMORATE/THE INTERNATIONAL/CELEBRATION OF/INDEPENDENCE DAY/JULY 4 1918 [with seal of American Numismatic Society inscribed ANS at corners]"; all surrounded by border of shields bearing coats of arms of foreign countries surmounted by the Great Seal of the U.S.
