DescriptionWhite metal struck medal with obverse depicting clothed bust of Thomas Jefferson facing left with legend: "TH. JEFFERSON PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. 4 MARCH 1801." Reverse contains scene with allegorical figure of Liberty holding document labelled "Declar./INDEPENDENCE" and standing in front of pedestal inscribed "CONSTITUTION"; attributes of war and cornucopia to the right; eagle bearing wreath of victory overhead; legend: "UNDER HIS WING IS PROTECTION"; in exergue: "TO COMMEMORATE/JULY 4 1776."
