The subject was a sister of Monson Morris. As children she and her brother were members of the household of Alonzo C. Monson, a former judge of the California Supreme Court and treasurer of the New York Jockey Club. In 1904 Miss Morris married Nelson Beardsley Burr, a New York lawyer and railroad executive.
