Adolph Lange established the Saxon precision watchmaking industry in Glasshütte near Dresden in 1845. The business became A. Lange & Söhne in 1868 when Adoph's sons took over the firm.
DescriptionGold pocket watch with double-cover closed face case, with knob and ring stirrup at the top; front cover is monogrammed "CWH", white ceramic watch face has black enamel arabic numeral hour and minute markings, with separate second time keeper at the bottom center; reverse cover opens to reveal a interior cover protecting the crystal over the works.
Markingsengraved: on the front cover: "CWH" superimposed printed: on the watch face: "A. LANGE & SONS/ GLASHUTTE/ N DRESDEN" stamped: on the interiors of the font and back covers: "C. W. S." in a cartouche, "K/ 18" in an arch
