This shirt was worn by Dr. John B. Walker, while he served as a colonel in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army during World War I. He was commanding officer of Base Hospital No. 116, Army Expeditionary Forces, and later consultant to the government during demobilization. He was awarded a distinguished service medal in 1922 for his work "standardizing and supervising the treatment of the wounded suffering from gun-shot fractures."

DescriptionOff-white silk long-sleeved shirt with 3/4" closed stand-up collar, with buttonholes for collar button; 5 rows of tucks half way down the breast; 4 mother of pearl buttons down the front beside tucks, bottom half of shirt open; open sleeve with flase cuffs, a buttonhole on each side for shirt button or cuff link; yoke across the back at the shoulders, back in one panel.
