This waistcoat is part of a uniform worn by First Lieutenant Abram P. Haring, who served in the Civil War with Company G, 132nd New York Volunteers, from 1862-1865.
DescriptionDark blue or black wool 3-pocket hand made waistcoat; 3/4" open stand-up collar; 9 buttons down the front, buttons cast with shield-breasted eagle with "I" at the center; back made of brown twill-weave cotton, with 2 straps at the small of the back which fasten at the center to metal buckle with double-tongued chape; lined with white twill-weave cotton.
Markingscast: center of each button: "I"
