Mariners' Harbor wasa prosperous nineteenth-century fisherman's community on the north shore of State Insland and a home for oystermen who made their living in the nearby waters and resided along the Kill van Kull. This and the following two unsigned Staten Island views are probably originals by H. Knecht for three of seven vignette views which appear on a published lithograph which is given the overall title of Staten Island, N.Y., and is signed at the lower right H. Knecht, Del.
